ABOUT ME
In 2008 Erika Monroy began her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas - El Paso where she was first introduced into organic chemistry research as a MARC scholar through an undergraduate project synthesizing carbohydrate-based vaccine for Chagas disease by Dr. Katja Michael. Upon earning two Bachelors of Science degrees from UT El Paso (Double Major: Biological Science and Chemistry) she then moved to New Mexico State University in 2012 where she is currently pursuing her doctoral research, with a focus in organic chemistry, as a RISE to the Postdoctorate Scholar with Dr. William Maio investigating a new synthetic method to generate enamides and total synthesis of unnatural macrocyclic analogs.
